I am clearly a news junkie as I have stated before and I can not help but follow the results of the Republican nomination. This is not a political piece merely an example of how God works. Rick Santorum, during the beginning debates hardly received any recognition what so ever. Even when he was asked questions directly, he was pandered off as a non threatening opponent. And then he won three caucuses a few weeks back and then won an unexpected two, again last night. He has been out advertised, out spent, out debated, and out delegated yet he still manages to forge forward and grasp some momentum. He isn't going to quit. He clearly states his faith, and his moral standings, and each day is bringing light and hope through his message about re-grounding the attributes that our country, the free and the brave, was founded upon. America is in turmoil, God sees it and God knows it but we have yet to find out what God's plan for it will be. This must be our hope, that God will intervene as he sees fit and set us on solid footing, and not let us dangle in the grips of
forfeited strength and values.
It is such a wonderful example about not giving up or giving in. We are so apt to be discouraged by front leaders. Folks who seem to have a better agenda, folks who have more means to accomplish their goals, and folks who have had many more successes on their life journey. But God knows what he is doing and raises those he intends for the purposes he intends, at the time he intends. The point is that God might be moving slow in our lives, or sending us through detours that are not too much fun, but he has not given up on us. We might be standing in what we see as the background, but in a place where God sees as his foreground for something that he is creating to happen for his purposes and our growth. So try not encamp on discouragement when things might seem at odds at the time. Hold onto hope, hope in the fact that God is our overseer, and our guide and as long as we seek his way and desire his wisdom, he will lead us down the path that he has chosen for his ultimate good.
These are two quotes that I found to be encouraging and relative to this topic:
“Take the first step in faith. You don’t have to see the whole staircase, just take the first step.”Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
and this one which I was familiar with. the beginning of the quote I had heard time and time again, but had never heard the end of it:
“Never give in, never give in, never; never; never; never - in nothing, great or small, large or petty - never give in except to convictions of honor and good sense.”Winston Churchill
We are continuously allowed situations which teeter on the thread of hopeless outcome, but God says no, don't give into
hopeless contentment. Go forth and strive in the trust that you know to be true, even in the darkest of times. For as you sit in darkness, you are never alone. God sits with you. He has a plan for you and for me and in that we have to trust. This plan will not be thwarted in spite of our mistakes and grievances, God will work with we have done or not done and make it right if only we believe in his power and his authority and his faithfulness.
Jeremiah 29:11
For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
I am anxious to see what God has planed for these upcoming elections, not just in the Republican arena but for the leadership of our great country. He does have a plan and whatever plan he allows to unfold will have his purposes included within in.
Dear Lord, Bless us as we strive to know your will, obey it and seek your wisdom in the midst of it. Help us to not be pulled into a state of hopelessness brought on by earthly woes but rather lift us to your height of joy and peace as we faithfully trust in you. Amen
Praise God wherever you are or whatever situation He has allowed you to be in . . . For His Glory will shine through!
