Valentine's Day

Today will be filled with flowers, cards, telephone calls, candy, homemade treats...all to celebrate Valentine's Day. The day of romance it is called! A time to share tokens of love to those we love. But remember that there are those on a singles path without someone special in their lives..to share a token of love with. Then what! Instead, try looking at this day as a day of the Heart! Everyone has one of those! We can all walk down that path without anyone being isolated or feeling abandoned. That is the thing with holidays, many of us have these great big families and forget that there are people who feel pretty lonely when one of these occasions arises...and iI am guessing that it often times is approached almost with dread.

Today, on Valentine's, consider your heart ...now just for a minute think of what it would feel like if there was someone out there who loved you, I mean totally adored you...everything about you and wanted to be with you each moment. ( Not to the point of suffocating you...but as a wonderful, loving, interesting, resourceful friend who truly cares about your life) Well, there is ....and he is right beside you this very moment. It is GOD Himself! You know those little conversation hearts...(why do they call them conversation hearts when all they do is simply state a word or two?) Well, maybe because it only takes a word or two of encouragement to lift a heart...or at least begin a conversation that shows you care about someone. So today when you are out and about think about those little conversation hearts and try to come up with a few words of your own that add joy to someone's day. It might sound really corny...and it will take a little effort...but I guarantee you will be the one whose heart is lifted just by the exercise.

And as far as words and thoughts go, what if you wrote a note in your mind and sent it from YOUR HEART to that ONE who loves you with all HIS HEART.... and told Him what He means to you? Wouldn't it change the direction of your thoughts a little. It already has changed mine. For this is not a day to be lonely but a day to celebrate a love that is abounding to infinity...this is a day to be grateful for a love that comforts, guides, protects, cries with you as you cry, rejoices with you in your joys, and stands beside you no matter what the winds have blown in your life. This is a superstar celebrity, off the charts... who wants you to be HIS VALENTINEALWAYS. He has picked you. When you are out driving today, look around at the flowers he has planted, or the colors he has mixed, or the fruits he has grown that you have fresh in your fruit basket.. Those are the gifts he gives us each day...not just today.

This IS a day of the Heart . . . a day that accentuates love....for there is no greater love than someone who would lay down his life for you.
We are all loved by this same God who did lay down his life for us through His son Jesus Christ. On Valentine's Day think of someone to give a card to....anyone...I am sticking one in the mailbox for our mail lady. Share that love that God has shown YOU with someone who may need a little love themselves. CelebrateValentine's Day...and the love that you have been given from God who sits in authority over all the earth.

May your heart be filled on Valentines as you consider the price that has been paid ....all in the name of love.

Here are a few Heart verses in the bible: The heart must pretty important to God for it is mentioned 743 times. Psalm 51:10
Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me.
Psalm 86:12
I will praise you, O Lord my God, with all my heart; I will glorify your name forever.
Psalm 119:2
Blessed are they who keep his statutes and seek him with all their heart.
Psalm 119:11
I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you.

Dear Lord, Thank you for making each day a day of the heart...Let us praise you and show our adoration for the God that are. Fill our hearts with your love so that we are overflowing to the point that we are pouring it our unto others whose paths we cross. Thank you for the celebration of Valentine's Day...whatever the history...for it is a day that you have reminded us of the importance of what we have within our hearts. If you look into our hearts Lord, and you see something that needs repair or replacement, please let it be brought out into the open..but would you please do it gently? I know that our hearts are a place for storage...help us identify the things that are no longer good or worth the keep.
...and Lord, place upon our heart ONE person today who we can touch by a kind deed. Thank you...for being the keeper of my heart. Amen
