Blueberries

This is a devotional written in 2006...but last night the box of blueberries again fell to the floor reminding me...of this devotional. It still applies to my life!

As I was picking up blueberries scattered all over my kitchen floor this morning . . . I thought this must be how God feels when he tries to handle my life. My mind seems to be scattered in so many directions . . . first on one thing and then another! Instead of neatly containing my focus on one area at a time, I am constantly juggling thoughts and they seem to spill out one on top of another creating a mess. If I would just remember when I wake to let God hold my box of thoughts . . . for he would not lose control like I did with the blueberries and they would be some semblance of structure and priority.

Do you ever feel like you are all over the page with indecision? All kinds of advise freely distributed, and all kinds of literature
contradicting itself, and these thoughts wavering about in your head as to what to do or not to do. When you have to make a decision regarding something that you have really no clue about, where do you go and who can you really trust? Folks have all kinds of good intentions but do THEY really know the answers.

The next time you feel like your thoughts are like a box of fallen blueberries scattered all over the floor . . . just Breathe a minute - regroup and go back one step at a time in life to where you know TRUTH to be! or who you know the TRUTH to be!
Keep stepping back until you find that point . . . for me it was the point when I finally believed and accepted the fact that GOD was truly sovereign. He does know all, sees all, and is everywhere at all times. So when my thoughts are scattered and I need someone to help me "pick up the blueberries" . . . I need to remember to go straight to God first, not the articles, or the people (though God may use both of them) but straight to the ONE who knows the answers. Knowing the TRUTH allows our hearts to rest in his presence and in his peace.
Psalm 145:18
The LORD is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth.
John 8:32
Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free."
2 Corinthians 13:8
For we cannot do anything against the truth, but only for the truth.
1 John 3:19
This then is how we know that we belong to the truth, and how we set our hearts at rest in his presence

His TRUTH exceeds all human knowledge. We can not comprehend the mind of God . . . I just am concerned about trying to understand my own . . . and with God's help - he slides the essentials into focus and forces the nonessential to take a back seat.

Dear Lord, whenever I try to make sense of hard things I come away defeated. Help me to rely not just on you but try to see things and situations from your heavenly perspective.

When my thoughts are scattered about and I am in limbo without a decision, or a plan- nudge me, hard if you need to get my attention, and make me mindful of your authority and security in knowing that you are by my side and your wisdom is always there for the asking. Thank you for being ever present, ever loving, and ever forgiving! Amen

Praise God where ever you are and whatever situation he has allowed you to be in . . . His glory will shine through!
