Though we would like to dodge them...and sidestep them... we each are faced with battles that we are called to fight. Some battles are more vicious than others...some are longer in duration than others, some are fought physically, some are fought with words, some with actions, some with emotions and some are merely mind games. But none of us are exempt from a fight at some point and in regards to some situation. And when the time for battle comes we need to be ready and armed.
So where is your battleground? What is your battleground? Even the gentle hearted, and gentle spirited have to contend with adversity. Sometimes just identifying our enemy is one of the greatest tools we have for an offense. For if we can clearly define who or what we are fighting against then we are better aware of the necessary weapons we need to ask God for to aid us in our fight,
I hear stories nearly everyday of people who are struggling...and though the struggles are different our approaches are often very similar.in any battlefield. Either we approach it head on...face to face...sneak in from the back, or strategically go about our attack taking hold of one stronghold at a time. But even the best offense is no guarantee of victory....for the forces of darkness are sometimes so manipulative and so overbearing that we hardly are able to have time to draw our swords in battle.
That is why it is good to "be ready" so that when the time comes to fight ...we are armed and in position to counter attack whatever it is or whoever it is that has attacked us. This is where our master general comes in....God.
Numbers 10:9
When you go into battle in your own land against an enemy who is oppressing you, sound a blast on the trumpets. Then you will be remembered by the LORD your God and rescued from your enemies.
1 Samuel 7:10
While Samuel was sacrificing the burnt offering, the Philistines drew near to engage Israel in battle. But that day the LORD thundered with loud thunder against the Philistines and threw them into such a panic that they were routed before the Israelites.
1 Samuel 17:47
All those gathered here will know that it is not by sword or spear that the LORD saves; for the battle is the LORD's, and he will give all of you into our hands."
If we are thown into a battlefield alone...we are sure to be beaten down and crushed by our adversary. Be it a battle with health, with relationships, with financial woes, job security, or even a battle within ourself....it is we who decides who the battle belongs to that counts...If we contend that it belongs to us...and us alone...then we fight alone....there will never be enought strength, enought wisdom, enough artillary to successfully and ultimatley contend with a force so great as the dark army of the enemy.
BUT if we sell out our warfare intentions to God and give whatever battle it is that is upon us to HIM, God will equip us with His heavenly artilary designed to succesfully defend us...spritually. emotionally, physically and mentally.
"The battle... belongs to God"...If only we could embrace that reality. God is experienced, God knows the strategies of war and not only has a copy of the adversaries' war manual....but knows just how to successfully manuever through his land mines. We just have to follow God...and trust him to fight our battles.
I don't know what battles are before you...I only know what battles are before me...but what I also know is that if you and I allow God to be the General leading our battle, He will, though His LOVE and faithfulness, protect us, guide us, inform us, teach us and give us courage to stand tall in the midst of any adversity...and through His grace see us through with victory.
God wants us to win the battles that we are confronted with...but he also wants us to depend on HIm for that victory. For we are not equipped, no matter how hard we try. to go into battle alone....we just don't have the strength, the experience, the know how and the tenacity to go at it without God's help. For "the Battle is the Lord's" and we are guaranteed victory only when we have God fighting on our behalf!!!
So today when you are weary with worry or anxiousness about a battle that is emerging....remember to give it to the Lord...and then follow Him...he will give you the peace and the provisions that you will need for your fight..on Him you can sepend.
Dear Lord, Thank for being willing to go to battle for us and with us no matter how dreadful the adversary may appear to be, For the battle is ultimately yours
and may our victory be glorifying to you wh owe have chosen to follow.Amen
Praise God wherever you are or whatever situation he has allowed you to be in..For His Glory will shine through!
