Light Bulb

It is a simple deal...someone just has to take the initiative to do it. It is a pretty regular morning routine at our house to wake the house up by turning on specific lights. And if one light bulb has burned out, it leaves a defined absence
of light in that particular area. Well duh....but it takes a little initiate to change gears and find a bulb and fix it. Either I do it now or do it later... It is a little deal but the bottom line is...if it is a priority I will make way to get it done....if not it sits until someone else takes the initiate.

Burn out...there are just times when we are burned out....not enough sleep,
not enough time, not enough resources, not enough support, etc. And we feel like we are carrying this heavy baggage around that we can't seem to unload.
We need to find a way to change that bulb inside of us that is burnt out. Either we have to take the initiative....or we sit around expecting someone else to fix whatever it is that has burnt us out.

Now just consider a minute the light that we know...the light that lives within us and shines through the Holy Spirit and gives us light for our daily path. It is there, we just too often take it for granted, ignore its presence or forget to turn it on. When we get burned out....it is not the light of the Spirit that has faltered...it is us who have generated a "dud" to be screwed into its place. That "dud" is self sufficiency....instead of Godly grace.

2 Corinthians 4:6
For God, who said, "Let light shine out of darkness," made his light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ.

Too often we try to go about life on our own steam...and sidestep the light of God's wisdom, God's direction, God's comfort, God's strength, and God's grace. We are burned out becasue we are not equipped to handle our lives without God. He has created us to be that way. To have a built in need for HIM. To need His light to shine on our path. To help direct us and calm us and give us peace in the midst of a storm. God's light never dies...it is never in a burn out mode. But it is us who must take the initiative to allow God's light to shine....and not try to take on life on our own. It will burn us out each time.

God's light not only exposes things from hidden venues but it allows us to see more clearly where we are headed, who we are traveling with, and what we are
dealing with. Just as we routinely wake up in the morning...we are called to begin our day by turning on His light in us. We can stumble around in darkness and sit around waiting for someone else to light up our life or we can be mindful and grateful of the light that God has offered us and turn it on.

Burn out....is not an option of God's....for His glory never fades. It is our decision as to whether or not we allow a "dud" bulb to stand in the place of God's light...or not. It just takes a little concerted initiative to ask God to let his light shine in your life....and he will gladly turn it on.

Dear Lord, Oh how we take for granted the light of your glory within us...please forgive us for trying to make something shine out of a darkness that we have created. For it is only through your light that we are able to see the blessings that surround us and the grace that is upon us. Amen

Praise God wherever you are or whatever situation he has allowed you to be in...for His glory will shine through.
