Why is it that so many times things seem to come in bunches? It happens with our schedules, conflicts in invitations, bundled trials, even joys, etc. Things we have no control over. And how many times have you said to yourself, if only some of these things were spread out, it would make things so easy. But things are not always in the order of our preference, as a matter of fact, seldom are they. Which brings me to the point that God continues to be in control. He always will be the decision maker and we, merely, are called to follow his ways and adjust to his scheduled activities, be it rain or sunshine. Much of life falls into these categories and there are extremes to both sides. There are times of darkness, when skies are clouded and the rains pour, and there are times of dry parched heat that zap the very energy our of your soul. But then there are days sprinkled with goodness and joy and days when the sunshine is accompanied by cool breezes of kindness and calm.
It is hard sometimes to just roll with the weather, and not fuss or complain or be anxious about what is or what is to come. But if for just a minute we will take time to contemplate that this is God's story not ours, and we have been invited to partake in all of his
seasons, then maybe we can just sit back and learn to enjoy whatever it is that he has brought before us; be it rainy days of pensive mind wanderings , or sunny days of fruitful embrace. There is always positive somewhere, we just sometimes have to dig a little harder to find it. Life is like the weather and will always be filled with a variety of emotional seasons. And if we submit to the challenge to try to find the good (God's perspective) and step over the mushy muddy puddles (the enemy's traps) that are staged for our inconveniences, we can learn to be content in any weather bound forecast that God has authorized.
The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock.
Rains do stop, and the sunshine does come our eventually. We just have to hold on, in confidence, that God has orchestrated whatever is raining down on us for, his own purposes of glory and his building up of our character. He is the umbrella of hope who shelters us and one who we can trust and faithfully hold tight to. In good weather or bad, God remains constant in His control. So let the rains fall as they may, and know that if you are in the middle of a crisis, and emotions are pouring through you, God is with you, you are not alone. He loves you and he will see you through whatever it is that is upon you, and the sun will shine again and the cool breezes of peace and joy will one day fill your heart again.
Dear Lord, thank you for the rains, for they do have a tendency to wash away the accumulated dirt and grime, and give us a season to
quietly submit to your control and overseeing capacity to rule over this earth. Help us to remember that you are the umbrella of shelter and hope when the storms come barreling through out lives, and help us to hold tight to the handle you have given us through your love. Amen
