Anticipation

I have been waiting for this day for weeks. Rebecka, my daughter in law and baby Emma are coming to stay a few days at our house. She flew into Austin last week from New York to visit with her family, and not it is our turn because she is giving a shower here this weekend. Funny how when you make a plan so far away, it seems like forever before it finally gets here and then when it does, it did seem like it got her fast.

It will be busy for sure, the fun kind of busy. For we have to do a ballet carpool, go to cousin baseball games, get Texadelphia and a little Mexican food (her favorite cravings), take the inclusive grand baby photo for the cover of my new grandparent book to be released in November, (seldom do I get to have them all together) and do some shopping of course.

It did seem to get here fast, and I am ready. Stocked up on snacks, a couple of surprises for mom and baby, flowers in her room etc. But it made me think about what we each do to get ready for an event or an appointment, a meeting, an interview, a visit, or even a day of dutiful chores. Some of us compile a list while others just take it on moment by moment! And then I think about how God ordains our days. He is a planner you know. And while we are waiting and anticipating , he is busy behind the scenes making ready for what he to offer us to mold us, transform us, to grow us, to nurture us and to provide for us. He needs no lists, he has all of his gears in place, moving in his automated timing according to his wise and fruitful
plans.

Consider this day to be a day that God has planned just for you. It may be filled with trials, surprises, joys or heartbreaks, oh but every moment of it is covered by his grace. If we wait on God for direction and anticipate his faithful response, we will joyfully be in a state of anticipation no matter why lies ahead, for we will know that God is watching and listening and all knowing and he not only prepares for us but prepares us for each upcoming event that may come out way, if only we seek to find his way, and walk in it.

I am filled with joy at the anticipation of seeing my New York travelers, but this time too will go quick and we will each be off to another adventure. God has given me this day and had planned for it and prepared it according to his purposes, as he does everyday. How blessed am I, how blessed are you! I know that even in the midst of darkness or troubled times, that he has arranged for His blessings to be laid at my feet. I must anticipate them and search for them and embrace them in joyful times as well as times of sorrow. For if we anticipate the daily opportunities that God gives us to walk with him, and take note of his many wondrous deeds, it is then that we will find clarity in his peace and be able to trust in his purposes.

Psalm 5:3
In the morning, LORD, you hear my voice; in the morning I lay my requests before you and wait expectantly.

Dear Lord, Anticipation can hold us in peaceful application, or drown us in fearful trepidation. I pray that all those reading this today will hold tight to the truth of your faithfulness and authority and be blessed by your peace. Amen

Praise God wherever you are or whatever situation He has allowed you to be in . . . For His Glory will shine through!
