I have ordered several things recently online and,on one package particularly, the shipping charge got by me and I was pretty surprised at the cost when I saw the receipt in the box, but there was nothing to do, I had the merchandise. I have another order to place for my grandson's birthday present with same company and this time I did take note of the shipping before I placed the order and again it was expensive. So I did my homework and sure enough there was a coupon site for this very company that offered free shipping if I only would type in the words HSFREE. Does this really work. I went back to my order page and when it asked for catalog info I put in that one word, and a screen appeared that said "accepted". Really? Did that really work? And I went back to the check out page and sure enough under the shipping line it stated FREE, and my order was complete and I saved that money. It was so easy, and yet without a little digging and investigation and desire, I would not have been privy to the offering.
That coupon has been there in wait for anyone who pursued an investigation. The shipping isn't free because someone has to pay for it, but it was free for me. All I had to do was go to the distributing source and retrieve and activate that which had been positioned for my
need. Ok, no rocket science research to know where I am going with this. Authorized payment for the shipping coupon has been made.
Jesus Christ has paid the price for us to be able to claim the benefits to be drawn from his account. They lie in wait for us to retrieve and activate the blessings of strength, wisdom, faith, truth, courage, trust, forgiveness and grace. They were not free to him, for he died to make these available to us. All we have to do is search the heart within us and seek the rewards of knowing him and inviting him to be a part of our life, and then set into motion the wheels of activation.
The difference in this coupon search and the search for God's provisions is that with the coupon search, I really did not know that this was even a possibility that something like this free shipping existed. And then when I found it, I still was a little unsure of the validity of the promise. And even when I submitted the token phrase into the only spot that I could possibly find to put it in, and an "accepted" sign immediately appeared, I still was leery. It was not until I saw on the order page that the shipping price that had been displayed before had been replaced with "free".
Christ's offerings to us are free. I think we too are leery that all of God's promises are valid. How could he offer his world of riches to us for nothing in exchange? Where is the catch? And why would he do such a thing? The answer is clear...he loves us so much that he would and has done anything and everything to make our life existence affordable. Through him we can afford to be kind, we can afford to be gracious, we can afford to be last, we can afford to be forgiving, we can afford to step back and give passes, we can afford to serve others, we can afford to step out in risk, we can afford to take time to make and nurture relationships. The list goes on. The price has been made and the riches have been made available to all who seek him and trust in his promises.
The blessings are out there in the midst of our chaos, we just have to have a heart filled desire and be willing to search for God a little deeper, trust God little harder, hold onto God little tighter and seek God with an expectation to find the offerings that will provide us with us the best deal of each day...it is Christ, who is with us and for us, always.
Proverbs 2:3-5
indeed, if you call out for insight
and cry aloud for understanding,
and if you look for it as for silver
and search for it as for hidden treasure,
then you will understand the fear of the LORD
and find the knowledge of God.
Dear Lord, Thank you for making available your many provisions that you do for our lives. We all have varied needs and wants and you know them everyone. Help us to seek your face, adapt to your ways and activate your will into our lives. Amen
Praise God wherever you are and whatever situation He has allowed you to be in . . . His glory will shine through!
