Haze

I left for Austin at 5:30 yesterday morning to make it to a two day art class at 9:00 that I had registered for. The road grew darker as I got out of town and I noticed that miles out the lights that were on the new car lots and billboard lights etc were on but the beams were distracted by a hovering haze in the air. And the effectiveness of the light was hampered and distorted. But as I kept on going, the haze began to lift and the lights of the properties that they encompassed were again bright and reflective.
Sometimes when we are on a road of a decision, we too are distracted by the haze of distractions and the clarity is not yet apparent as to which way to turn. But as I was driving and thinking in the quietness of my car, I realized that though the decision is not yet clear, the light remains. It was doing its job, it was just being interfered with by outside surroundings. When we are faced with tough choices, God remains constant, it is us who allows the haze of our emotions and our need for instant response and control to get in His way. But we forget that God has a plan for this whole deal that he has allowed to come our way. And generally that plan of his has something to do with growing us up, bringing us to a closer dependence on Him and and trying to help us get our eyes off of self.

It was not till I had gotten further down the road that I realized that the clarity was once again apparent. The lights were shining with no
interferences. The thing about distractions is that the light in us remains constant but the reflection to others of that light within becomes dimmed. It is hard to wait for answers. And it is hard to not let the "what if's" hover around us, but God has promised that he will not leave us and we will not be abandoned on any road that we are traveling. We might have to wait for the things around us and within us to settle down but if we just keep moving forward in faith and trust that God is who he says he is, our awesome and steadfast foundation of truth and love, and if we trust Him in the midst of our hovering thoughts and worries, he will get us on down our road and help us to find the clarity that we are seeking.

God's light remains in tact, shining in our darkness, leading our path even in the blurred times, and becomes brighter and brighter depending upon out faithful submission to his truth and love that he carries and shines through for each of us.

Psalm 9:10
Those who know your name trust in you, for you, LORD, have never forsaken those who seek you.

The road may be dark, the lights of the road dimmed, but God will always shine his way through to those who trust him. We just have to keep moving down the road and His clarity of peace will break through our haze and even if we cannot yet see clearly what is before us, we are sure to know that we are not alone and God in his sovereignty will prevail. For just as the darkness of the night faded into day, with the beauty of a sunrise, so is our darkness to fade into the beauty and peace of overseeing Lord.

Dear Lord, Thank you for the reminder that your light is constant and thought we may be on a darkened road for a while, your peace will will overcome the haze of our distractions. Amen

Praise God wherever you are and whatever situation He has allowed you to be in . . . His glory will shine through!
