I have invited the grand babies (four of them) over for dinner, baths and a movie tonight. Sounds like a big night but in reality it is only a couple of hours of true fun! Only the grand babies...Mel has a meeting and the parents have stuff going on as well..and it has been a while since I have gotten to have them all by myself. Can't hardly wait..such sweet joy! .Spaghetti for dinner....a hit for even baby Sam I suspect. What a blessing to be able to watch their personalities take root and the values and manners that are being instilled in them by their parents. They each are so different....with different bents. As I am sure you have found as I have, with my own children.
But as I sit here and think about them....I am reminded that God is a God of diversion and creativity. Of course they are different...just as each of us are different. We have been packaged with varied gifts for varied purposes...God's! People relate to people differently...from one extreme of a strong, aggressive confident type, to the other extreme of a gentle spirited, humble, down to earth type....and then all the ones in the middle. We have each been created with an ultimate purpose in mind...a purpose that God has ordained...a purpose that have been planned and thought out and ultimately put into play....for His glory. For His Glory....now how often do we really think...for God's glory before we do something or say something or behave in a manner that we do?
Hebrews 13:20-22 May the God of peace, who through the blood of the eternal covenant brought back from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great Shepherd of the sheep, equip you with everything good for doing his will, and may he work in us what is pleasing to him, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.
As much as I love and adore my grandchildren....it does not even begin to compare to how much our Lord and Savior loves them and loves you and me. As I looked up the phrase "for His glory".(http://www.biblegateway.com) I was convicted as I read verse by verse on the importance of "giving God the Glory" in all circumstances...
knowing that it is by his hand and through his grace that we are even able to be in the position to worship him as we do. How can I miss that or ignore any of the works of his hands. They are there before me...in all their brilliance defined by His Light and touched by His glory....and given to me to love and enjoy.
I look at my little ones in awe...in awe of the blessings that they are to me...and to their parents but most of all to God himself. For he is growing them day by day and molding them by experiences, by teachers, by stories told and by what they see and what they are and are not exposed to. Their parents have proclaimed boundaries for their safety, for their protection, for their adventures...and for their well being. Just as God does for each of us. We too are to honor what we have been taught...to stay within the bounds of God's freedom. For it is in that freedom that we are able to be equipped to do what is is that God has meant for us to do.
We all are on a growing scale ....being daily transformed to meet the purposes that God has intended for our lives. For some of us it is a slow process...because we are at odds with God's authority...for others we can see results...and we have become aware of subtle changes in attitudes and behavior....therein lies the blessing we have been given by allowing God's hand to lead us by his righteous power.
Just think a minute about God's glory...things that he has done in creation, things that he has done through his authority,
his plan of salvation, his overseeing of all his children, and his infinite power that commands his justice and righteousness and authority over all living things. It remains constant...it remains supreme...it remains available to all of us who believe in Him.
As I hang out with my babies tonight I will once again Thank God for his glorious gifts of generational joy! He uses each of us to pass down what we know of him and his son Jesus...for those stories are the seeds that they will build their faith on. Just as we have learned of Jesus from generations before us....we now have the responsibility to pass along what we know. To God be the Glory yesterday today and forever.
Dear Lord, Help us to appreciate you, day by day and to hail your glory in all that we have, all that we do, all that we are and in all that you have purposed us to be. And nudge us to be willing participants...in spreading your word to all those who cross our path....be they grand babies or strangers...friend or foe. Amen
Praise God wherever you are and whatever situation He has allowed you to be in . . . His glory will shine through!
