Easter signifies a season in time when it seems like God just pulls the top right off of the can of new beginnings. New sprouts on trees and bushes, new planting, new flowers growing, colors become alive, the grass is greener, the sun seems to shine brighter and there seems to be an energy in the air that has been dormant the months before.Spring just seems to give folks an inclination to produce...no I am not talking about children....but about being productive. It has a tendency to open up my mind and thoughts to be more active, to be more involved and to be more aware of the opportunities that are about me.
Maybe because when Spring hits it enables us and draws us to be outdoors. To come our of our winter hibernation and see what blooms after the dormant season. We all go through seasons in our lives...some are quiet and dormant, some lively and blooming, some that seem to smother the very life out of us and some that are filled with joy beyond our expectations. So what season would you say you were in? And how are you coping with it? With joy...with anticipation, with trepidation, with consolation, with appreciation or in mediation. It doesn't matter what season we have found ourselves in...it just matters that the season will yield a harvest of growth through Christ.
Ecclesiastes 3
A Time for Everything
1There is a time for everything,
and a season for every activity under heaven:
2 a time to be born and a time to die,
a time to plant and a time to uproot,
3 a time to kill and a time to heal,
a time to tear down and a time to build,
4 a time to weep and a time to laugh,
a time to mourn and a time to dance,
5 a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them,
a time to embrace and a time to refrain,
6 a time to search and a time to give up,
a time to keep and a time to throw away,
7 a time to tear and a time to mend,
a time to be silent and a time to speak,
8 a time to love and a time to hate,
a time for war and a time for peace.
Just as a seed is planted and unseen and nestled in a darkened underground.....so are we when we find ourselves steeped in conflict, in sadness, in disappointment or disarray. But God uses all of our underground time for his development. It is there that we are nourished through the quietness and the abandonment of material distractions by God's hand of wisdom and strength and purpose....and His love. It is in our quietness that we are able to recognize the presence of God the most.
The seasons of life that God allows us each to have are for his purposes...to get us ready for something else that is to come. And when he feels like we have the tools to cope, the mindset to persevere, the grasp of His goodness.....and a small seed of faithfulness..he sends up upward to bloom into the world of His opportunities. Just as the flowers differ in their style, their blooms, their staying power and their size...so do we differ in the gardens that God plants us in. We have differing gifts, differing talents, and all for differing purposes.
1 Corinthians 3:7
So neither he who plants nor he who waters is anything, but only God, who makes things grow.
2 Peter 3:18
But growin the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and forever!
For each season ...God has a reason! As you look out onto the new beginnings of this season in the nature that surrounds you....reflect a minute on where you are in your life ....and how your seasons have changed. We all do change you know...some changes are much greater in folks than others..maybe because their personalities allow their to be such diversion, or maybe because the situation that we are faced with commands change...but what we must remember is that God never changes...He is the constant that remains steadfast....and he is in the business of changing us and transforming us according to His vision for our life, our purpose and His glory..... and not only allows us the seasons in our lives but I am convinced that he perpetrates (where did that big word come from) them as well.
May this Spring be a season for you to find new beginnings that will bring you joy an peace....and may you seek to let your relationship with God bloom freely in a way that you have never experienced before.
Dear Lord, As I look our my window this morning and see the blooms that are before me...I thank you for you creativity, your consistency, your authority over all living things. May we be content to bloom where you have planted us and be nourished by your goodness and your love. Amen
Praise God wherever you are or whatever situation he has allowed you to be in...for His glory will shine through.
